Double your impact! There are wonderful updates in research! As you know, our funded researcher, Dr. Timothy Niewold, with his team, has discovered a grouping of genes that can predict lupus. It is very effective and will save lives. He is also developing a new drug for lupus!

HERE ARE THE UPDATES, DIRECLTY FROM DR. NIEWOLD, AS OF DECEMBER 2025:

“We are now actively recruiting for the clinical trial – for a completely new mechanism for this drug to treat lupus, and we are excited that the study has begun! Additional contributions to this project would enable more immunological studies to understand how it impacts the immune system in lupus, and that may help us understand which patients would benefit most from the drug.

For the genetic prediction score (the test to predict lupus), we have filed the full patent application and had discussion with industry partners. The paper is drafted and we hope to submit very soon. Additional contributions to this project will help us move toward commercialization – getting the test out there and available.

It’s all very exciting!”
