Worldwide, more than 5 million individuals live with Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease caused by the immune system attacking its own healthy tissue. Lupus generates inflammation that can afflict the joints, skin, cells, and organs. A complex disease with every case being unique, 9 out of 10 cases affect women. Progress to find a cure is being made by research funded through the Lupus Research Foundation. My friend Regan, a talented curler and incredibly inspiring woman, lives with Lupus.
